Between countries

Travelling between the UK, Ireland and France throws up differences that run deeper than language and lifestyle. And also similarities, as consumerism spreads a blanket of bland uniformity over the world.

But there is something special and exciting about travel. Something to do with being between countries, not so much a no-mans-land, although parts of the journey can feel like that, more a place outside time. What is also extraordinary is the ease and speed with which we can move from one place to another, from one culture to another.
